JOBS

Teacher's Assistant

This student helps the teacher pass out papers, clears and sets up the lunch count for the next day, and so much more.

Class Messenger

The messenger helps with all errands for the teacher. Taking the lunch count and the office envelope (purple) to the office each day is included.

 

Homework Checker

This student checks in assignments using a class list. Papers are organized into number order and students' names are checked off on the list. The Teacher's Assistant can help the Homework Checker when needed.

Class Monitor

This student observes the class to ensure that the school rules are followed and that hallway manners are exceptional. A clipboard with a class list is used.

Planners Assistant

This student checks in student planners each day and documents the information. At the end of each day, this student updates the class planner page on the SMARTboard.

Librarian

This student changes our book nook rotation chart each day, and s/he helps keep the library organized.

Gardener/Windows

This student waters the plants in Room 22 and closes the window blinds at the end of each day.

Custodian

This student helps keep our room clean by checking the floors, dusting, and making sure student lockers are neat and clean.

Cashier

This student works at our class store. S/he takes Patton Dollars and makes change for student shoppers.

Banker

Crew Leaders (2)

These students help oversee all classroom jobs in order to ensure that jobs are being completed and students deserve their salary.

Computer Tech

This student helps with technical issues that may arise throughout the day on student computers. In addition, this student will ensure that computers are properly shut down at the end of the day.

Friday Folders Assistant

This student helps collect Friday Folders each Monday. In addition, s/he organizes the folers into number order for easy "stuffing" on Friday.

I would like to thank Beth Newingham for inspiring me to create a working economy in Room 22. It has taken "baby steps" over several years to develop a system that works for me (and I'm still working on it!), but it all started with a visit to her site. Check out her site HERE.
