Students will complete the following tasks:

  • Complete the Morning Routine.
  • Partner check: Is your partner at school today? If not, set up the absent folder and form.
  • Read the Morning Message and follow any included directions.

Dear 5th Graders,

     Welcome back!  I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  Be ready to share during our morning meeting today.  What’s in store for this week?  Well, you will continue MAP testing on Wednesday and Thursday.  You will have a short math test on fraction concepts learned so far (Tuesday).  In addition, you will continue working on a writing piece.

Math fraction practice page 10 and 11 (from Friday’s lesson) – To be completed independently and to be turned in when finished.  This is due before you go home today.

Please work on your cause and effect assignment using Smart Notebook.  Be sure to make necessary changes to your chart, and to add information from the last paragraph of the passage (crime investigations).

Reader’s Theater + cause and effect
Students will receive the script and complete a “read through” in which you read all the way through one time.  Once finished, team members will decide who has what part.  Continue reading and rehearsing your part.

Writing activity: Pass It Around à Students will be given a sentence starter.  The first student in the group will continue writing for a set amount of time.  When time is up, that student will pass the paper to the next student.  He/she will continue writing for the same designated amount of time.  This process will continue until everyone has added to the writing piece.  Then we will share what was created during this process.
