Writer’s Workshop

Mini-lesson: Sketching (strategy)

Today I’m going to add to my sketch.  I’ll use a different colored marker to show that the details I’ll add today are different than the original sketch.  I want to focus more on the living room and the back bedroom during the holiday of Christmas.  I have a lot of memories centered around this.

Independent writing:

As you sketch today, use a different color as well.  A colored pencil would be great.  Think about important details that you can add to your sketch.  Is there an area of your sketch that you can focus on?

Sharing (BLUE DAY):

Students will share about their sketch for 4 min.  Remember that it is a blue day, so only the “blue” partner will talk, while the “silver” partner will listen.
