·         Calendar Math (NEW SHEETS)

·         Activity: Solving Number Puzzles

For this activity, you will work in the same groups as yesterday.  You will receive an envelope that contains four puzzle clues.  You’ll work together to solve the puzzle.  You need to find ALL of the answers.  When you have found the answers, you’ll check off the puzzle on your sheet (student sheet 4) and record the answers in the space provided.  You’ll trade in your puzzle envelope for a new one and begin working to solve the next puzzle.  You will continue this until time is up.  Look for the timer to help.

While you are working, I will observe you.  Here’s what I’m looking for:

ü  What strategies do you use?

ü  Are you using terms like multiple, factor, prime, square, odd, and even when you talk to your team members?

ü  Are you using the terms listed above correctly?

ü  Do you explain your reasoning when talking with team members?

ü  Can you say how you found the answers?

ü  Can you explain which numbers were eliminated with which clues?
