Obj:   to become familiar with morning procedures, to follow written and verbal directions, to appropriately socialize with students in the group, to use time effectively to complete tasks/assignments

 

Please complete the following:

ü  Make your lunch choice, unpack, and hang up your backpack.

ü  Turn in any/all of the following: Friday Folders, notes from home, forms or permission slips, your planner, and any homework that is due.

ü  Check to see if your partner is here.  If not, set up an absent folder.

ü  Complete your Calendar Math sheets for Sunday and Monday.  Remember, a student will be randomly chosen to present Calendar Math for today.

ü  Complete your classroom job, work on assignments, or enjoy some S.T.A.R. time.

ü  Please join me in front by 9:25.  Please bring a pencil, your clipboard, and your Calendar Math pages.

When you are finished, complete the Comm. Arts pretest (30 questions, test form).  Then, you may continue to use Study Island to work on Comm. Arts skills.  You can also take assignments, especially late work, to complete, or a book to read.

·         Activity: Number Shapes (p. 9 in Mathematical Thinking) – Students will work independently but will share tiles.  Student Sheet 1, “Number Shape Clues” and graph paper are needed.

·         Discussion: Names for Numbers

·         Homework: Factor Pairs 1 to 25 – Due Thursday – You will need graph paper and Student Sheet. 
NOTE: This assignment will be needed for a future investigation.

·         Reminder: Weekly Homework is due Friday.  Any questions about this assignment?

ALL SPELLING TIC TAC TOE ASSIGNMENTS are DUE TODAY!

 

Now…let’s talk contracts!  New Spelling Contracts will be issued tomorrow and these will replace the Tic Tac Toe activities you’ve been assigned in the past.  Here’s what you need to know:

 

ü  Spelling Contracts are issued with a new unit (on Wednesdays) and are due the next Tuesday.

 

ü  Contract work is worth 100 points – you choose which activities you will complete from each of the categories: 25 point activities, 50 point activities, and 75 point activities

 

ü  Contract work is homework.  In class, you can print the necessary activities, collect materials to take home, and ask any questions about the contract. 

 

ü  You will keep the contract and the work in the Homework section of your B.E.E. binder.

 

ü  The contract will be turned in with the completed contract work.

 

ü  Read the directions, the descriptions of activities, and “fine print’ on the contract.

Read

You can read an “easy”, “just right” or “challenging” book, or a magazine.

Write

You can add an entry to your writing “seed” notebook, reread entries, or start a draft from your “seed” notebook.  You could also write a friendly letter and mail it for WEE Deliver.

Learn

You can learn more and more by becoming a member of the Dardenne Mastery Club.  Click here to begin.

Extend

You can go above and beyond by studying a topic of interest and extend your learning experience.  Check out the sites provided below.  Take notes, teach a friend, create a presentation or poster.  Happy learning!
