Dear Fifth Graders,

Today, we will begin our second Social Studies Unit.  What do you already know though??  Let’s find out.  Use a piece of paper to create a KWL chart (I have a sample posted on the back chalkboard).  In the column marked K, tell me everything you already know about Native Americans.  In the second column, marked with a W, write at least three questions that you want to know about Native Americans.  Leave the third column blank.  KEEP THIS when finished.
If you have any free-time, you can continue working on your Roll-A-Story or your yellow activity grid.  These two options, plus independent reading time are available to you ANY time you have finished all of your assignments.  But first, make sure you don’t owe any late work.  Tomorrow is the last day of the quarter and all assignments must be turned in by the end of the day.

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!
