Mrs. Patton’s Daily Plans

Week of October 5, 2009
Tuesday/Thursday week

Monday, October 5, 2009

* MORNING MESSAGE *

Dear 5th Graders,

      A new week.  A fresh start.  And only 2 weeks left of the quarter.  Last week was a tough week.  After being at camp or in a different classroom, it was difficult for some students to come back to the normal routine of school.  I hope that this week is better: with less disruptions and outbursts from students, with more participation from all students, and with more students following directions the first time given.  Please remember my expectations for the use of the computer and “free time.”  I want everyone using the computers appropriately this week.

      Now that we have completed six weeks of school, it is time to reflect and plan ahead.  Your progress report should have helped you do some reflecting.  Now I will help you continue this process.  Starting this week, I will send home a weekly report with each child.  This report will share important details about your week with parents.  We will discuss this on Tuesday.

      Later today, we will discuss classroom jobs and students will get paid.  I think my system from last year may be needed as far as getting paid is concerned.  We’ll talk and see what you think.  Do you think we could work out a shopping schedule?  What do we need to think about (timing, responsibilities, and disruptions)??

     Let’s work together to really make this a great week!  You are all so smart and have so much to offer.  Never give up!  Do the KNIGHT THING!!!

                                                                                                              Sincerely,
                                                                                                             Mrs. Patton

Morning Message

Dear Caring Classmates,

     Good morning!  Yesterday was great!!!  I am really impressed with the improvements.  Many students followed directions, stayed on task, reduced disruptions and outbursts, and hallway manners were awesome.  I can’t wait to see how great today will be.  Let’s work together to make it another great day!

     Thanks for your input regarding classroom jobs.  My favorite suggestion was that jobs rotate like book nooks.  We will try that.  If you completed a job, you will get paid today, either by the day (3 weeks), or by the week, depending on the job.

     And I know you are very anxious to go shopping and spend that hard-earned money.  The store will be open next week, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 3:15-3:30.

     Please complete the tasks in the Morning Procedures section.  Have a wonderful Thursday.

                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                Mrs. Patton
