Morning Procedures

Obj:   to become familiar with morning procedures, to follow written and verbal directions, to appropriately socialize with students in the group, to use time effectively to complete tasks/assignments

 

Students will complete the following tasks:

§  Read the Morning Message and follow any included directions.

§  Follow the directions on the Morning Routine Poster (next to the Smartboard).

§  Turn in any forms, notes, and paperwork to the purple tub.

§  MORNING WORK à Log in to moodle and follow the directions posted there.  Continue working until announcements.

§  9:15 àMorning announcements and the Pledge of Allegiance

§  9:20 àFill out planners and turn them in.  Once you have turned in your planner, please continue with your morning work until we begin our morning meeting.

Morning Meeting:

1.    Shared reading of the Morning Message

2.   Greeting – How do we choose a person to greet?

3.   Sharing – “Rapid Fire” weekend/camp sharing

4.   News and announcements: Morning work is to be completed in the morning, and any time during the day.  I’ll explain in more detail during our meeting.

5.   Group activity – to be completed during math lesson

1.    New story introduction (6-8 min.): Read aloud, discussion based on the following question: Why do people get nervous about auditions?

2.   Word work (15-20 min.): Read Vocabulary Power on p. 70-71; Review of prefixes, suffixes, and roots.

3.   Mini-lesson (10-15 min.):

4.   Independent reading time (10 min.) à Read a book of your choice.  Be ready to share what you like about your book.

5.   Sharing (5 min.)

·        Take the Spelling Pretest by going to www.spellingcity.com: Then select “Find a List” and type in my first and last name: Jennifer Patton.  Select the list for “Yang the Third and Her Impossible Family."

·        Hopes and dreams assignment on MOODLE à We will talk about this assignment as a whole class, take a look at the set-up in moodle, and then drivers will get started.  How can we make sure that everyone has time to complete this assignment on the computer? The assignment is due by Thursday, at 3:30.

All assignments (except the Hopes and Dreams assignment) were due by 3:30 today.  Because it is the midpoint of the quarter, any incomplete work will be reflected on progress reports that go home on September 25th.
