Dear Fantastic Fifth Graders,

Welcome!  I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  Please scroll through the Daily Plans so you know what you will be doing today.  For Morning Work, you need to fill out your planners by copying the information from the Smartboard.  Once you have filled out your planner, please turn it in.  Also, please total up your credits and debits in your wallet.  We need to prepare for PAYDAY.  I will give more directions after announcements.  Finally, please fill out the pink sheet on your desk.  Be sure to read the directions first.  Please turn it in to the purple tub.  This will help me create our new seating chart.  Thanks for your input.

  • During the first 30 minutes, Drivers will finish working on his/her bio-poem (if needed).  When finished, or if already finished with the bio-poem, drivers will take the spelling pretest and print the results.  Be sure to keep in your binder.  Also, drivers will log in to moodle.  Click on the “Voice: Narrative and descriptive writing” course, and read the directions for the assignment.  Navigators will use this time to finish reading the articles in the Weekly Reader and complete the back page of the issue.  This should be turned in to the Social Studies folder (gray box).
  • During the second 30 minutes, the students will switch and Navigators will finish working on his/her bio-poem, take the spelling pretest, and complete the assignment in moodle.  Drivers will work on the Weekly Reader assignment.

FINISHED EARLY?  Choose an article from the Weekly Reader and write about it.  You could write a summary of the article, write to Weekly Reader and let them know what you think (see page 2), or write a persuasive piece about the gray wolves (yes they should be protected, or no they shouldn’t).

Dear Terrific Teammates,

I really hope that today is a better day in Room 22.  Let’s work together to be patient and kind to others.  I don’t enjoy seeing students treat others badly, nor do I like when students are misbehaving.  We are a caring classroom and I expect better of you.
Today, we will start our Social Studies lesson promptly at 9:20.  Your help is needed to make that happen.  Think: What can I do to help all of us start learning on time??

At our morning meeting (see schedule below) your homework will be needed (classroom rules).  Please keep that assignment.
Please fill out your planner and turn it in.  When finished, make sure you are ready to begin Social Studies at 9:20.  You will need an atlas from the reference cart.

Make it a great day!
